The cacao bean husk is responsible for its flavor and aroma and has multiple properties that keep it from being a simple waste. In fact, it is precisely here that most of its therapeutic and medicinal properties are found.
This ingredient is obtained during the process of extracting cocoa butter, which will give rise to chocolate. The husk comes off the grain. It contains much less fat than this.
Due to its many beneficial properties (it is rich in magnesium, oleic and linoleic acids, vitamins, and pectins) we recommend using it:
♦ For gastrointestinal health
It has a high digestive potential and works by eliminating harmful bacteria from our intestines. Its high pectin content makes it a powerful intestinal absorbent which, together with the pectin also present in the peel, helps purify the body by eliminating toxins and prevents colon cancer. It is also recommended as an effective treatment against diarrhea.
♦ For tiredness, weakness, and asthenia caused by magnesium deficiency
Due to its high magnesium content, it is useful for treating fatigue, weakness, and cramps, as well as nutritional deficiency of this element.
♦ For inflammation and fluid retention
Theobromine has diuretic and anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, it is recommended as a complementary treatment in case of fluid retention or edema. How to prepare it? The indicated formula is a decoction twice a day: one tablespoon of cascarilla per dose. You can sweeten it with honey or with a little whole cane sugar.
♦ As a coffee substitute
Thanks to the action of theobromine, which is a mild energizer, it can serve as a substitute for coffee, since it produces less nervous disturbance.
♦ As a source of dietary fiber
It has been discovered that the use of cocoa shells in products such as cookies, cakes, and chocolate dietary supplements (low in calories and high in fiber) can help reduce gastrointestinal disorders, prevent chronic degenerative diseases, and reduce calorie levels. , cholesterol, and blood glucose.
